Christmas Crafts for Kids in Need

Not all children are fortunate to live in a home where there is extra money in the budget to purchase items at Christmas time. Some families can’t afford items to decorate for Christmas much less have money to purchase gifts.

Gather up your friends and family and help these families have some decorations at Christmas. Ask your friends and family to go to the craft store and purchase some fabric and bring over some scissors.

Make some treats and sit around at the table and make stockings for children that don’t have one. A stocking is really easy to cut out and sew on the sewing machine.

Get creative with the stocking and glue shapes or novelties on the stocking. If you know the child’s name in advance you can put their name on it with puff paint.

If you don’t want to cut out the stocking and sew it, you can purchase a plain red stocking at your local dollar store and decorate it. Fill it with some items from the dollar store and bring it over to the needy family’s home.

If you know that the family will not have a Christmas tree this year. You can go to your local Goodwill and purchase a tree for as little as ten dollars. You will be able to find ornaments and lights there as well. You can bring the tree home and decorate it or you can drop the items off at the needy family’s home and let them have the joy of decorating it.

You could also have an ornament making party a separate night for the Christmas tree. Almost any item can be made into an ornament. All you need is a drill and ribbon to make an ornament out of child’s toy.

If you have a child in school you could ask their teacher if they would mind having the children make ornaments for the Christmas tree. Most teachers won’t mind and this gets your child’s class involved with helping other children. Ask your child’s teacher if they mind if you come in and help out and take pictures.

What ever you decide to do, it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. Get your friends and family together to help other families. It will be a fun night for you and you will help a family in need at Christmas time. Don’t forget to take lots of pictures for your memory album!
