Site of the Week: Why Christmas
Posted on September 28, 2007 in the Christmas Online category
In all the years we’ve followed Christmas online we’ve seen just a handful of sites dedicated to Christmas that were non-commercial in nature and that actually stayed online. This week we feature such a site and we dare to say that not only has this site survived the dot com crashes that so frequently befall Christmas sites but it has actually improved with time. Why Christmas? is an oldie — and it is a favorite.
Why Christmas doesn’t pretend to be all things to all people. It takes a broad scope of Christmas questions and answers them simply and concisely. The site is smartly designed, fast to read, fascinating in it’s details and thorough in it’s research.
It is one of the few Christmas sites to cover Christmas around the world — from India to Mali to Zimbabwe — Why Christmas has it covered.
Common traditions such as mistletoe and yule logs are covered. And even the obscure things of Christmas are explained (such as Jesse Trees and Chrismons).
We can’t recommend this site enough as year-after-year essential Christmas reading!
